A recent motorcycle accident in California is an example of the catastrophic
injuries motor vehicle collisions with motorcycles can cause. A woman
has suffered a serious brain injury after a motorist allegedly ran a red
light and hit her motorcycle in the intersection.
The collision occurred when the motorcyclist was driving through an intersection
and a vehicle ran a red light, hitting the motorcycle and causing the
woman's serious injuries. After the collision, police arrested the
driver of the sedan for driving under the influence of prescription drugs.
The motorcyclist suffered serious head trauma in the accident, and the
hospital has reported that the victim is now brain dead. This tragic accident
has resulted in a life-threatening injury for this woman. The victim is
fighting for her life because the driver took prescription drugs and got
behind the wheel.
The driver's reckless actions were not only illegal but could also
result in this woman's death. In addition to the driver facing DUI
charges, he or she could also face vehicular manslaughter charges or other
criminal charges if the victim dies.
Criminal charges against the negligent driver can make sure the driver
is held accountable for his or her actions. However, the victim's
family members may be wondering what else can be done to hold the driver
responsible for the
motorcycle accident. The family may be able to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver
if the victim passes away due to her severe brain injury. While nothing
can replace their loved one, filing a lawsuit can help the family receive
compensation for their loss that can help pay for the victim's medical
care and expenses associated with the accident.
