2006-2008 have been banner years for BIREN|KATZMAN and the fulfillment of our mission of obtaining substantial financial recoveries for individuals who have sustained substantial personal injuries and death. Most notable were the following trial and settlement conquests:

• Firm founder Matthew B.F. Biren won a verdict of over $1 million in Riverside for a man who suffered a cervical spine (neck) injury when a piece of gym equipment broke.
• After obtaining a trial verdict of approximately $1 million, we recovered 30 times the defendant's policy limits for our client, who had suffered a back injury which required surgery.
• Partner Marc J. Katzman settled a dog attack case for $495,000.
• In an extremely difficult case in a very conservative jurisdiction, Matthew B.F. Biren won a $3.5 million verdict for a Vista man whose motorcycle (which did not have a front brake) was cut off by an oil tanker truck, resulting in bad leg and face injuries.
• Firm partners Matthew B.F. Biren and Marc J. Katzman settled the case of a motorcycle driver who laid his bike down when cut off by a truck inside of a trucking facility for approximately $2 million.
• Matthew B.F. Biren won a Riverside verdict of $4.3 million for a Chinese national who suffered brain damage after being ejected from an automobile that rolled after a collision; the trial occurred after the defendant's insurance company failed to timely tender the defendant's $100,000 policy limits .
• Partners Matthew B.F. Biren and Marc J. Katzman recently settled the case of a young worker who was killed for more than $2 million against foreign companies, even though the man's employer was arguably a primary fault of the accident.
• In addition, BIREN|KATZMAN has settled a number of other very substantial cases, including one mammoth insurance bad faith case , where the details cannot be disclosed because of confidentiality agreements.
