Our Mission: Aggressive excellence in the contingency fee representation of plaintiffs who have sustained serious personal and/or financial injuries.
Verdicts: Curry v. Hayward McGuire

With more than 35 years of experience representing plaintiffs who have sustained serious personal injuries or financial losses, the trial lawyers of BIREN|KATZMAN have successfully handled hundreds of cases, collecting more than $250 million for our clients. The following case is just one example:

CURRY V. HAYWARD McGUIRE

Woman Burned In Firebombing Paid $1 Million

Cheryl Curry, a 22 year old housewife, was in her apartment when 2 Molotov cocktails were hurled from the street below by an unknown criminal. She was able to throw her babies out the window to safety, but then was trapped in the living room of her second floor apartment when she could not find the key to the door or escape through the barred windows.

BIREN|KATZMAN developed evidence that Ms. Curry was not burned as a result of the original fire bombing, but rather because she was unable to escape from the spreading fire.

The firm proved that the reason she could not escape was because of building code violations, including an illegal double keyed deadbolt lock on the apartment door and non-release security bars over the windows.

Plaintiff received second and third degree burns over 26% of her body with resulting scarring and disfigurement. The case settled for the landlord's policy limits of $1 million.
