Man in coma after amusement park accident

When waiting in line to ride a roller coaster at an amusement park, you probably have several emotions flowing through your mind. Anxiety, excitement, and even fear are common feelings you may have before it's finally your turn to be jolted, zigzagged and sometimes turned upside down on the adventurous roller coaster you've been waiting in line to ride.

While many people do feel scared on roller coasters, generally those "fears" turn into a fun memory of your time spent at the amusement park. Unfortunately, some "fears" actually turn into legitimate tales of horror when a roller coaster ride is defective and results in a catastrophic injury or death.

A recent roller coaster accident in another state is an example of the ways amusement park rides in California may be defective or fail and cause serious or fatal injuries to park patrons. According to the police report, a man fell from a roller coaster at the Mt. Olympus Theme Park at Wisconsin Dells. The man is in a coma after suffering serious injuries, including a brain injury, after falling almost 17 feet from the ride.

His wife was riding the roller coaster with him and told authorities that his lap bar unlocked during the ride, which resulted in him being thrown from his seat and to the ground. The police report also stated that the bar where the man was sitting came unlocked when it shouldn't have. The ride has been shut down due to the investigation.

While this case didn't happen in California, it is a tragic example of the dangers of amusement park accidents and what can happen when a roller coaster's safety equipment is defective. In cases like this one, the victim's family may be able to take legal action against the amusement park if a loved one has suffered catastrophic or fatal injuries after a ride malfunctions.

Losing a loved one is never easy, but when a death occurs due to the negligence of an amusement park the tragedy can be unbearable. However, filing a lawsuit against those responsible for the tragic accident can make sure they are held accountable as well as make sure safety issues are addressed before another accident happens.
